Reconstruction
I reconstruct the heart –
the one –
that I hope beats within in my belief
(self belief)
and I look –
I look outside –
and I see that there is a concrete street
it has electronic lights
the sort –
that bathe a modern world –
in a unique glow
I reconstruct the heart –
that I know –
sometimes pumps something –
that feels too cold
and i look –
i look outside
the sky is but a cradle
and my moon cries within its hold
i lean back –
knowing there are stories –
of such unkindness –
that feel all too regularly told
