The Gown
They looked proud in the gown.
People meant well.
but my,
do they fawn
Stood there looking gaunt,
looked drowned.
Happiness,
can seem such a curious norm
They’d been a friend
in one of my previous lives.
in-between daydreams and nightmares,
or was it nightmares and dreams.
Either way, to me,
they’d always had sadness in spades.
But they are now proud.
Still, I see them in their gown.
They tell the world
of a new found happiness.
Who am I to comment?
But I do wonder.
Are they really happy?
What does it mean?
As they stand there in their gown.
And I wonder if the madness long ago
caused a piece of them to drown.
