Ugly Fame
Parts of us
die
long before the people do;
but death
is a violent nudge,
a reminder
that something remains.
Theirs
was a life of complicated pain,
one where
mental health had ugly fame;
one
where the spotlight
was always burnt.
But now you have gone,
it tells me
that time and memory
breathe life
into what has gone before;
but people are the frame,
and
then,
one day,
they are no more.
