Sandals and Socks

i could not care too much about your vote
it is the nature of your boat
the slogans that they quote
it is the blame apportioned
without any caution
it is the, ‘i know best’,
stepping on a life
that leaves a puzzling quest
i pay for my decisions
the cost
is either a gain or something lost
it is no one else’s to pay
i open my big mouth
i take responsibility for what i say
so tell me, who ticked your card
and shook your ballot box
let’s all escape to the Costa del Sol
and wear sandals and socks
we could burn in the sun
even sit around the pool,
blaming everyone else
because they did not have a plan
