Only You
hypocrisy never strikes you
it remains some distant away
stupidity never taps you on the shoulder
and points out the stupidity in what you say
compassion never grabs you
with its arms tight around your frame
selfishness has convinced you
that people’s feelings are not the same
and then with stunning ease, self doubt
pollutes the thinking in your brain.
you plead as a victim
with a banner oft ill wrote
you row in a circle
In the most hopeless of lifeboats.
You blame everything and everybody else
the sorry truth is you have only ever been;
a victim of yourself
