Your Beautiful Baby Daughter – Written Monday 7th September 2009 (Aged 34)

Your Beautiful Baby Daughter

you talked to me about her standing ua
And how she now rattles the stair gate
i talk about another crazy situation
another woman, another date
you talk all about the meaning
that she has given you
the love you feel, the love she gives
i seem to be lacking in depth
when I talk about how I live
of course I am being semi serious
the grass always appears greener
when I was younger I was delirious
now dreams can be much leaner
and life somehow, much more serious
you talk about your beautiful daughter
and how she gives you so much light
i talk about someone i barely know
and how we have had a fight
how I barely made it through the week
and she just clung on for the night
how does my life compare?
with you and your bright young daughter
there is so much to be shared
i seem to be sacrificed on a selfish alter
