They Must Have Overlooked The Way I Dance

I am here
because of others
i am lucky,
i am fortunate
and i never expect
that happiness is a given
just as, all my mistakes
cannot be forgiven
the only thing i ever did,
we listen,
when i could
and accept my total failures
as you should
and to realise
happiness and contentment
is hard fought
it cannot be substituted
with things bought
and aspiration
is a deadly cold, easily caught
i am here
because at some point or stage
people must have thought something of me
or that i had a chance
they have overlooked the mess
and the way i dance
i owe both people named –
and un named a deep debt of gratitude
