Pig Headed Stubbornness

i was surprised
by a classical education
i was led by the hand
through strange situations
do you understand?
it is not just my mess,
it is not the courage or resilience
just pig headed stubbornness
to be me with an identity
i was caught
by the notion
that people could be bought
when they were weak
or governed by words
that others could easily speak
i had been led to believe
that to, ‘get on’
i had to hate every aspect of me
yes, you are allowed to dream
but watch world say,
first, you must set fire to your self esteem
but it is not true
and that is not correct
i was thankful for my education
that showed me respect
for the friend who held me up,
and taught me the value of, doing best
