I See People Writing Books

I See People Writing Books

i see people writing books,
adding to their narratives
i see messages,
designed to, ‘change the world’
but the climate change is slow
and it still feels cold

i see people living in hill forts
looking after the land
i see medieval lords
refuse to offer their hands
there is no cohesive rebellion
everyone wants to be first
and hold onto that medallion

everyone is fighting for spotlights
but there are not enough to go round
and the rules we once had,
have been buried deep in the ground
conservatives feverishly dig
with their traditional spades
as the ‘baby boomers’ sell us down the river
whistling songs of empire as the sun starts to fade

the younger people,
have hope,
but the young white man
opens up a shop selling just rope
to ensure that every moment of change
never hits the right note
