Illusions of Innocence
why is it
every day before this one
seems,
more carefree
and more innocent
then,
the days we face now
somehow,
memory can talk down
the stress and strain
why is it,
every song we hear now
feels more serious
and less carefree
than the songs,
we listened to years ago
why is it,
all those years ago
seem so based in fun
when we had no money
and nothing was every truly done
why does the world,
of many years ago
feel more innocent
and more carefree
than the world we face today
