Dedicated Passion
when i was young
i romanced naivety and hope
with a dedicated passion
i danced with ideas
until my feet began to ache
i feasted on experience and emotion
like the most delicious cake
when i was young
the song appeared to have –
an infinite number of verses
and i thought –
it would go on and on
but as older age found me
i realised, sadly, it doesn’t last too long
when i was young
i touched briefly, the stars in the sky
and i romanced my future –
with a do or die
i danced until i wore down –
the very soles on my shoes
i laughed at every colour in the rainbow
until it turned blue
when i was young
i romanced naivety and hope
with such hopeful dreams
and thoughts that were never broke
