Shell Shocked

i was left standing
left shell shocked by your actions
you froze me in mid thought
shell shocked by your detonations
explosions in my mind
you shot me in the place i am
you helped me across the river
you helped me understand
you stand and deliver
i was left standing
by the peace and contentment i felt
the fire i had always battled against
but before i had sadly lost
was now dying and looking faint
i got out to catch some air
and that was good
as i caught you there
i never wanted anything more
just a little peace and understanding
and that is what i got
i was left standing by you
i was shell shocked
