Transparent
i worked them out,
from the, ‘get go’
i saw through their pretence
i looked beyond the bushes
and the through the garden fence
i yawned when they tried to hide
i flinched and covered my eyes
especially when i saw inside
and, all the while,
with a servant’s smile
as they attempted to suppress the bile
i worked them out,
from the, ‘get go’
i saw the emotional links
breaking right down
i saw their needs, far too raw
with their adoptive frowns
i looked into the room
with the door so closed
i worked them out,
from the, ‘get go’
i turned away from the lights
and they did not even know
