Hope Throws a Ball
she wants my heart,
here,
i fear,
i may fail
this is where the wit,
runs away
the care leaps the cover
but falls short
then, hope throws a ball
and it is not easily caught
i have been,
bouncing my feelings,
against a brick wall,
and,
now they do not walk so tall
and,
if i gave my heart
that greatest wish
what do i get in return
i know it is selfish
but as you get older, you learn
she wants my heart,
here,
i fear,
i may fail
