Always Talking About the Weather

the people still walk
talking about the weather
trying to pay their electricity bill
hoping their luck will get better
there is a person for whom they feel
so they are cooking up an escape route
and they are inviting them round for a meal
just getting to know each other a little better
they talk about nothing in particular
but they comment on the weather
and just how cold it has been
a meal for two, a bed for one
alone to dream of scenes
where someone has a solution
to a problem no one can quite locate
going to work in the morning
look at the lines on your face
well, you have looked better
nothing much in common with those you work with
so you talk about the weather
mindless chit chat to pass the day
i hope things can get better
i hope we can find something to say
