Conceive

have i become –
the, ‘wise old owl’
i hoped i would
perhaps not –
but i am further away
from the, ‘demons’
than i have ever been
they lurk of course –
like they do for all of us
but,
they do not win me over
like they once did
and i am able to sit back
just a little –
and look back on a life
that feels a little more worthy
there is of course –
so much ahead
and there is still –
some sadness around
the things we cannot achieve
the pain –
is easier to, ‘conceive’
but i have survived
this far –
and mental health hasn’t –
won yet
still so much to go through
