The Raindrops on My Window Panes

people have sometimes
been
the raindrops on my window panes
people have sometimes
been
the rain that starts a storm
or refreshes me like –
a newborn
people have sometimes
been
confetti at a joyous wedding
a brightly lit float
a welcome oar,
for a floundering boat
people have sometimes
been
the storm clouds that gather
at times,
all that matters
people have sometimes
been
the raindrops on my window panes
times when we feel so utterly lost
and the times when we need to live again
