The Alcoholic’s Daughter
it is not meant to be like this
it is not really fair
that i should have this feeling
and that you are not here
it is like fate having a joke
saying, look what i bought you
an alcoholic’s daughter
spending all night looking for a home
she may know where you have been
if she does, you both won’t feel alone
all i have ever wanted,
is to be understood
for my words to ring true
for my feelings to be taken in
an alcoholic’s daughter lit the way
an alcoholic’s daughter found me
in more ways than you can imagine
i have now been totally examined
suddenly i gave up all the fight
it is not meant to be like this
i am meant to be for somebody else
now i feel the hollowness of feelings lost
cannot even recognise their ghost
well now i have been caught
we all take many steps in life
now i feel the weight and i falter
ever since, i met the alcoholic’s daughter
