Sunset Over Southend
sunset over southend
children on the sand
couple walk along the wall
hand in hand
sunset over the estuary
with the tide in
we flock to the water
hoping summer will begin
it is hard to be romantic
but somehow we are
it is a natural observation
to stand and look out to kent
and the less than beautiful
power station
and whilst the isle of grain
will remain, like a distant friend
sunset over southend
always mends
always fixes those winter blues
sunset over southend
estuary water glistens
voices carried in the air
if you listen,
and if you let me, i will take you there
we embrace the seafront
and we long to share
sunset over southend
