Those Lost – Written Tuesday 19th July 2005 (Aged 30)

Those Lost

my heart reached out
for those lost
this is not about god
surely not with this cost
their pictures
stared out at me
each one
could have been someone i knew
we are all –
just flesh and bone –
in the end
i hope they did not die alone
and that beyond, they found a friend
or the sweetheart –
that died with them
that dinner date that they never made
the house they never returned to
just a trip to their grave
far too early…
my eyes filled out and bled out tears
i could not help but cry
for all those unfullied years
