People Cannot Help Themselves
people cannot help themselves
they trip over their poor mental health
as they horde power
like the dragon hordes its treasure and wealth
they cannot help themselves
the relationships,
the marriages,
the trust issues,
the trauma,
is painted in an ambitious gloss
a work plan in warm colours
but with a feel of frost
alpha male or alpha female
it is not confidence
but power plays made of stale glue
people cannot help themselves
they cover their backs
as they stall and stoop
even as adults,
they lie as if they have croup
the insecurities,
the trauma,
the lies,
the poor health.
undecided and unresolved decisions
a world of work
where there is no human precision
as i kick back on the daytime clock
what is the miss
when does it stop?
