It Is Never Enough
running around
you are trying to please others
while happiness –
hides under the covers
and the things they throw –
back into your face
all the insults –
just leave a bitter taste
and when you come home –
after the nine to five
you fear a heart attack
so you spend each evening
trying to pull the knives –
out of your back
and still you try for others
you give them the world
and they want all the planets
you give them all the galaxies
and then they want the universe
you give them the universe
and still they want more
you offer a loving touch
but you are just running around
it is never enough
