Making it Fit

i have seen people
that maybe
would have turned on the light
i am left in a daze
and fumbling through my perpetual night
i am never really understood
but then, none of us are
and these half hearted rebellions
never take me that far

i have seen people
for whom
the heart has gone out too far
in this darkened room
they could have opened the door
getting closer
to my mind
and the things that make me tick
because people only ever
try to make you fit
