The Knowledge Well – Written Tuesday 14th November 1995 (Aged 20)

The Knowledge Well

they turned up the heat
cannot hear the screams through the rain
or the patter of dangerous feet –
coming to cause pain
if they bombed london tomorrow –
would you care?
the kids hang out in crowds
tension is tight
breaking up is not allowed
there is going to be a fight tonight
the papers scream and cry
they convey half the message
they really do try
it is changing times
science fiction points out all the signs
we live in a world –
where communities struggle to survive
broken up and disbanded
i got caught in the flow
the aliens would have landed
except they knew that they would have to go
if everyone went away
would the earth be living a better day?
i do not know, cannot really tell
we can only feed on our own imaginations
the knowledge well
