Keep Me Busy – Written Friday 24th January 2020 (Aged 44)

Keep My Busy

if i have something to do,
if i keep going
if i have something to do
i am not stopping,
with space to think
if i am keeping busy
then i am getting things done
if i pause and i think,
i am scared i will feel the weight
and then i will start to sink
yet, processes grind to a halt
bureaucracy ups its game,
e mail or phone,
i just wait in vain
if i have something to do,
if i am occupied
and my mind is tied
if have nothing to do
then my think is open wide
i cannot stop,
keep me dutifully occupied,
in tasks to do
do not let me stare out of windows
just drowning in the view
i just want things to do,
let them keep me busy
and give me a process or task
do not let me stop, that is all i ask
