Why Do People Hurt You?
why do people hurt you?
without a second thought
has empathy escaped
has belief broken down
and unable to relate?
has sadness strangled –
all the happiness
has hope now lost its way
and drowned in craziness
you kick me in the face
with a delicate phrase
i could fall in love with you
just becomes a thorny maze
and, ‘you are a keeper’
becomes another rusty knife
one that plunges much deeper
why do people hurt you?
