Fell Apart
perhaps i go back
to days
when i more easily fell apart
days when i was responsible
even though i just had heart
days when i hit life so hard
when responsibility ran for cover
or just hid in the dark
perhaps i go back
to days
that drifted past
when i took everything for granted
and then fell apart
days when i had much more hope
than care in my heart
days when the telephone rung
and days when we sat in parks
days when i left the shackles behind
and days when i provided the laugh
perhaps i go back
to days
when i more easily fell apart
when i pushed the horse
and they pulled my cart
days when i knew much less
but days when i tried so hard
even when i was careless
and i had to live with a broken heart
