I Should Have Put My Hand Up (Originally Untitled) – Written January 2006 (Aged 30)

I Should Have Put My Hand Up

i should have put my hand up
i should have said something
i should have explained how i felt
i should have done things differently
instead, i ran and hid
you cannot absolve your feelings
they are with you till you die
i should have explained,
but i always hoped,
that we would reach a conclusion
that would allow us to cope
i should have told you
i should have made it clear
but i only ever surfed,
on the waves of your tidal fear
i struggled to convince ou
that you were always near
i should have put my hand up
