Be Yourself?
your advice
was, ‘to be myself’
but how can that be true?
when it was not good enough for you
should have been somebody else
a scapegoat perhaps?
so you advice,
was well meant,
but ill kept,
i am scared of losing her
because she is so special
i want to feel like this
your advice was strange
she is a friend who is inviting me in
in from this cold
pass on that truth
it needs to be told
she reassures me everyday
that is her way
i do not need your advice
no, not today
