Floodgates
let the floodgates down
send out the hands
turn back the statues turned to sand
turn the people into colour
especially when they look so bland
let them shake you by the hand
feeling mean and no one understands
get a pat on the back,
and strike up the band
let the floodgates down
when finally, someone understands
leave behind your work
and head into town
send out the hands
take cover under the eiderdown
listen to the advice given for free
even when you know the only real sound
is the sound of your sea
