I Know You Are Not Perfect – Written Between February and June 1995 (Aged 20)

I Know You Are Not Perfect

i did not need to hear the truth –
from you today
i have been telling myself anyway
but i least expected it from you
after everything –
that we have gone through
thanks for waking me up
thanks for telling me what is best
and i really meant that
i hope i still have your respect
because i am beginning to –
wonder about you
perhaps you were right all along
i have turned you down –
put you down,
and i know you are not perfect
but maybe i need to ask you to stick around

James Garratt – February to June 1995
