Do Not Make Me Walk in That Direction

please,
do not make me –
walk in that direction
understand and see
the pain and the path,
it once consumed me

please,
understand me
sometimes,
we do a good thing
but the vessel is beached
and,
the captain cannot be reached

please,
do not make me –
walk in that direction
give us choice
let us make the selection
i am only a collection
of loosely strung together moments
and some of those,
are more painful than others
