My Cardboard Box
i have always crawled –
back to my cardboard box
i made it or fashioned it
when i was small
i still find it a safe space
even as age, built solid walls
my cardboard box
it is my own place,
my own space
as the world around rains down
and every disparate voice
demands its own sound
but i feel thoroughly foxed
so i always crawl
back to my cardboard box
i can close the lid
and adjust what i need
i feel fit and i do not bleed
i have always crawled –
back to my cardboard box
