Those Who Should Know Better

it was difficult
and it was a strain
some people –
have had their childhood
abused and distorted
by those closer
those,
who should know better
those for whom,
insecurity rules their lives
they cannot stand the thought
of a life lifetime –
soaked to the bone in loneliness
and,
they will make an image fit
but i tell you, it was difficult
with such uncompromised belief
i cannot criticise that
but really, is it the basis for a life?
