Always Play Your Heart
i should have played my cards
instead,
i played my heart
higher or lower?
well, I was just happy to take part
even when I gained my past
from the back of an apple cart
i should have completed the set
but the queue and the crowds
always made me feel the best
higher or lower?
who knows what it means?
i was happy to fill the pipe
and inhale exhaustive dreams
i could have settled down
ran a delicate business
from the other side of town
joined a band for the tone death
and danced to my own unique sound
higher or lower
happily, I was easily found
even when I was wrestling with depression
those times when I was really down
i always played my heart
even when I was never really earth bound
