A Campaign of Lost Hope
morality washes –
its dirty laundry in a river
it hangs out
in a public space
ethics is just ethics
and it refuses to clean its face
people have lost hope
so they took to the beach
and then they were asked to climb a path
that it could never reach
it is easy –
to say, it does not matter
expectation moves around at night
and it does so, with an almighty clatter
it is easy
to say, they need not be –
of a sufficient standard
after all, that is what they want
morality washes –
its dirty laundry in a river
it holds a conversation with something
blighted as they are by a cursed shiver
ethics finds some ivy
but then it starts to whither
leaders should not speak such untruths
instead, find morality and start deliver
