And it is So Cold
the children grew up
on dennis the menace
and swingball tennis
and to look alright
they rode chopper bikes
they liked duran duran
and then –
the space shuttle blew up
they cried –
even if they did not understand
we would have all loved –
to have just one wish
and get out of the eighties alive
surprisingly not so selfish
now the children have grown up
and now they are getting old
they discover the real world
and it is so cold
James Garratt – 1993/1994
