The Present Is a Foreign Country – Written Tuesday 15th June 2021 (Aged 46)

The Present is a Foreign Country

it used to be said
that the past
is a foreign country
one we could barely view
that the past was a foreign land
one that we could never understand
no matter what our view
well,
if that is true
then i feel it cannot be true anymore
it is not the past –
that is a foreign country
but the new
the present
the moments we are living in
it is unrecognisable
to one that people used to know
bathe in an insecure
pandemic glow
in the present, the current –
the moments in which we breathe
that is a foreign country
