The Chance Has Gone

i talked to you today
and again,
i sail down memory lane
to a place of,
‘what ifs’
and what might have been
a place where the now is different
and nothing is at it seems

i talked you today
and again,
i remembered how i put –
someone before you
someone who only treated –
me wrong
now we are in the present
and sadly, the chance has gone
