We Are Many Shades

i am many shades,
it’s true
so are you,
i’ve seen your hue
your aura,
so glorious and true
and i always seem to be missing you
it’s like taking my shoes off
and wiping them clean –
before i enter the house
before i am home,
and i don’t feel so alone around you
hearing your voice,
brings me closer still
you’ll learn so many things in life
but you will never learn how i feel
you will never learn that
that’s something no one could ever teach
not even clumsy me
i am many shades,
it’s true
but look at yourself,
so are you
it’s in the things you say
and the situations you choose
it’s time to move on
but that’s hard when you’re stuck –
where you are
look through the world with me
see it as i do,
we are many shades,
it’s true
