Something Else

i used to do the typing –
for the prettier girls
i used do that,
when i was much younger
it was something i could do
after all,
i was never going to be in their view
i remember –
events that have passed
like the first time –
i made girls laugh
and the first time i knew
that i had other things to do
maybe our childhood –
was left in those tents
in that field,
maybe we swapped childhood –
for material that helped us to build
i used to make –
the prettier girls laugh
and i know that i had something else
that i needed to chart
