Placard Boy
collectively –
the ‘left’ feel like a disappointment
the ‘right’ –
what an awful shower
the ‘left’ –
bitching over culture wars
and never really understanding power
i am left –
in a pool of strange elements
committed to my causes
but living in a world of destructive forces
my privilege –
is a gold ring on all of my fingers
the ability to turn away
and never linger
but i know what is happening
and i have seen the failings
as the collective ‘left’ attack –
birthday balloons tied to the railings
and the ‘right’
typify every worst kind of failing
and it seems –
i am not such a placard boy
not one with an armoury of opinions
that i can easily deploy
