Should Have Played My Part

should have played my part
before –
i went to the jumble sale
and tried to sell my heart
i have found out –
loving –
is not always easy
at best,
it’s a difficult art
should have played my part
followed you with the chalk
and then stuck to my mark
speaking up and speaking out
that has done me no good
they just do not hear you shout
