Addictions Come In All Shapes and Sizes

in some ways –
i want their forgiveness
i want them –
to say it was okay
because some have remained
yet, some did not stay
i look at messages that we once shared
frozen in time
from a place where once we cared
i see the hurt –
the care, the anger,
the reaching out
caught there –
in years that have long since passed
the tears –
that dripped down my mobile telephone
what did i do,
and why did i do it
i cannot understand myself
i know of my own kindness but not then –
i was brutal and unhinged
addictions come in all shapes and sizes
and it is easy to binge
in some ways i want their forgiveness
and other ways,
i wonder if i need a therapist to sort this out
