Damage
the damage was done by you
the damage was started by you
and we can sit down –
look at all the reasons
but the choices you made
were that choices that caused the damage
you pursued me with an image
one that i never was
nor have i ever been
you damaged me –
and expected me to be the same as you
and this single bloody mindedness
this absolute ache –
to be understood and to be part of something
that caused the damage
the persecution to make the pieces fit
the outburst and the outrage
the damage was done by you
you may hide from that fact
and speak to me as if you are ignorant of it
but you must know the truth
the damage was done by you
