Trying To Get My Words Down – Written Tuesday 23rd September 1997 (Aged 22)

Trying To Get My Words Down

i’m trying to get my words down
you know,
some people put you down
but i do care, i am there
but you never notice me,
no, not all
hope is high though
but in comparison i am so small
i’m locked into poetic imagery
it’s a synthetic symphony –
where i ache for some sympathy
i’m trying to get my words down
and put my boots on the ground
suede boots in my day,
and i feel almost made
so, what have you got to say
i’m trying to get across the water
my father knows she is alive,
but i’ve never met his daughter
where is she?
in name at least she is a sister to me
when i feel low and when i’m down
i need to find my words
relax from all the life pressure
hide inside verse,
i’m trying to get my words down
that’s all i am ever trying to do
