Handrails That I Bent

i am always wise after the events
buckled masonry
and handrails that i bent
pretty faces,
passing through my life
the singalong –
that tells us to hold on tight

i am always wise after the events
hot potatoes in tin foil –
and age old bonfires –
that once burned with passion
now i look around
and hold onto the wagon
and uncertainty –
is something of which i am certain
