These Names
these names –
they come and go
and though we laugh
they’re poetry to the slow
and then,
when this time is past
these names –
will make us laugh
they come and go
and these days –
are days we barely know
so i changed
and i’m not like i used to be
the anger comes –
and then is disappears
replaced by belief
and a willingness to learn
these days of which we speak
that softer minds
use when they feel weak
or when they write
but these names –
they’re ours just for one night
