Soldier For No One – Written Friday 30th August 2013 (Aged 38)

Soldier For No One

i am acceptable
perhaps people forget
i think sometimes they just fret
i am resilient
despite my emotional mess
i am healing
i think with every breath
i have survived storms
wind, hail, and snow
i am adaptable
even when i am mentally slow
i have worked –
to ensure others do not win
even when i do not know =
who these others are
i think sometimes –
it is forgotten –
how strong stubbornness is
i know it’s not beautiful art
or a specially laden gift
in reality, it is being comfortable
and that’s the way it is

  1. “despite my emotional mess
    i am healing
    i think with every breath
    i have survived storms”
There is a fluidity to this… love how this connects. It can be read in different ways – I like it a lot.

    1. Thank you :). I really enjoy your comments. It’s sorts about death / love / grief. I’d lost my mum about 6 months before this and there was so much change. This is sort of about that as well as just trying to function and manage daily.
