Stepping Up – Written Tuesday 13th June 2023 (Aged 48)

Stepping Up

stepping up –
is complicated when the concrete is not set
or your parents –
fell out with love and respect
when friends found you –
and your dreams were to let
stepping up –
when requested role models do not roll
it requires maps
with directions and goals
but it’s possible to find a course
second-hand shops
and gifts which can be taught
it is okay to reach up but come up short
it is normal to fall back and not always be caught
especially as life tumbles out of bed
sometimes activity is hard fought
i remember words people once said
they may have gone
but they have left me well fed
stepping up –
is complicated but not impossible
and the barriers you find, they can be passable
